Madrid - Located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula

Madrid is a resort that is perfect for couples and families who enjoy sight-seeing and people who love to shop. Madrid is home to some brilliant hotels rating at 5-stars. There is even the chance for you to do some celebrity spotting. There is plenty for you to see and do, so it is guaranteed that you will not get bored. Madrid is mainland Spain\'s capital and is the largest city in Spain. It is very cultural and offers the perfect chances for you to socialise. Madrid has a population of more than 4 million and is a very artistic city. There is plenty of entertainment on offer for tourists as the city is alive both night and day.

Madrid – plenty of sightseeing for you to try

Madrid is full of museums and art galleries. There are also plenty of churches and monasteries that are filled with culture and history. There are plenty of excursions that you can go on, including trips to El Escorial where you will see a palace, monastery and art collection, the Valley of the Fallen showing a carved mausoleum, the city of Toledo and even the Warner Bros Movieworld theme park. This is brilliant for both children and adults and is a great place to spend your day. There are some sports available in Madrid such as swimming, golf, horse-riding, tennis and fishing.

Madrid – no shortage of restaurants

The restaurants in Madrid do not open until between 8 and 9pm. There is a huge selection of international restaurants, so there really is something for everyone. There is a wide selection of seafood available, as well as many other cuisines such as Chinese, Italian, French, Moroccan, German, Russian, Mexican and Cuban. There are many locals dishes, including paella, that are definitely recommended. The nightlife in Madrid is lively. There is a variety of things to do, including sitting at a restaurant, going to a jazz club, flamenco shows, bars, nightclubs, concerts and cinemas. When it comes to shopping, the place to be is Madrid. You will find absolutely everything here, but be warned, there are a lot of designer shops meaning a lot of money will be spent. You will find clothing, leather, crafts, wines and jewellery. There are also many antique stores for you to enjoy. Buses and the metro system in Madrid and cheap, safe and reliable. You can get a train to other areas of Spain or use the buses to get around Madrid itself. There are also many taxis that offer reasonable rates.

Madrid – very cold winters and hot, dry summers

Madrid has more hours of sunshine a day than any other city. It is one of the sunniest cities in Europe. Luckily, the area has low humidity, so the summer temperatures are not as fierce as they could be. Winters in Madrid are sunny, however they are very cold as well. There can be a lot of rainfall in the winter, and occasionally you may see snow. From December to January, you will find temperatures range between 2°C and 9°C. In February the maximum temperature rises to 11°C and in March the temperatures range from 5°C to 15°C. The summer temperatures are different with June temperatures ranging from 15°C to 27°C, July ranging from 17°C to 31°C and August rangin from 17°C to 30°C.
